i have recently obtained the crappiest square-1 in existence, i got it today and its already falling apart...., anyway ive found that sq-1 notation is easier to memorize algorithms then 3x3, and i was wondering if this is because instead of memorizing the numbers and slashes you just see what they do, or if its because im very interested in the sq-1 at the moment so im learning it easier

I find Square-1 algs far harder to memorize. Anything long (like, 10 turns) ends up being a huge amount of moves, and there aren't really a lot of fingertricks to aid memorization. I'm not going to say the notation is better or worse than the 3x3 one but it's definitely appropriate to the puzzle - trying to deal with stuff like "R2 U3' D3 R2 U4'" etc would be awful.

I find square-1 algs a lot easier to remember, because you have the change of shapes to give you reference. If you fingertrick the puzzle like I do, you can feel the shape at pretty much all times, so you know what the shapes halfway through a familiar alg feel like.
