Hi Everyone,

Last month, i was fortunate enough to attend a competition at Cyprus. My flight arrived, but my friend's flight got cancelled.

long story short - both my friend and myself wanted to practice the scrambles from that competition.
I wanted to review my solves and my friend wanted to see how it would have gone for him.

apparently, sharing competition scrambles after the competition in forums and discord groups is super common.
we do that on WR/CR or "take a look at those scrambles" (*cough* lucky polish scrambles *cough*)

it took me a couple of weeks to come up with a mockup for an app that will do just that:

i know what you think, but it's not a timer! (you can use it as such, but that's not the intention).
change the scramble type to "Past WCA Competition Scrambles" and pick a competition!

from there, just pick everything or a particular group!

the data is updated from the WCA database, huge thanks to the WST!

Disclaimer:
This information is based on competition results owned and maintained by the
World Cube Assocation, published at https://worldcubeassociation.org/results
as of June 4, 2024.

aside from that, i added the option to allow you to practice these scrambles with friends!
the functionality is pretty straight forward from the days of mIRC - it's literally a simple chat app, with the only difference that the results are posted in place.

here's a screenshot after testing it with friends.
a few points of interest:

1. there are no rooms! just call someone, and once they'll answer you - you cube together!
2. same goes for joining a group or inviting people.
3. WCA database integration is really nice - especially if you cube with people who are faster than you.
see the small numbers under the results? these are the results normalized to YOUR times!
for example, i average about 20 sec, where Yoav Vishne (huge respect, one of the top 2x2 solvers in the world) is averaging well below 10 sec.
it will show his results in the respective column. the number beneath it will show his result as if he has my average (almost double the time)

the caculation is normalized result = result / PR avg * my PR avg

4. yeah, i had to add emojis

anyway, it's up after a few rounds of fixed and about 3 weeks of on and off development.
i should i should slowly share it to have people's opinions.

let me know how it works for you!

hey do you think you could make it so there is a way to sign up without WCA ID or some other way where I can create my own username?

This is an awesome idea! Excited to see where this goes :)

Registering a user via the WCA is easy and free. The whole application is centered around WCAs competition scrambles and letting others normalize their results according to yours (as recorded officially).

If you have not attended a WCA competition yet and was not assigned a WCAID, you can still use the app the same way, hopefully it will encourage you to attend a competition.

all of the information is public domain on the wca website either way. If you don't want others to see you, you have an invisible status on the chat menu.
