On planes they normally ban lithium cells and batteries, but I was wondering if the battery (button one), e.g. in the middle of a GAN I Carry could classify as this and be flagged up during scanning of handbags/carryons

Anyone have any input/experience related to this?

They don't ban lithium batteries. What do you think is in phones? I'm fact, if you have extra lithium batteries (like a power brick), you're REQUIRED to bring it on with you - not check it.

The idea being that those batteries can randomly start a fire.

In a cabin it is relatively easy to contain. In a luggage space it can be a serious problem.

Yeah fair point, I was thinking about spare cells, etc. but articulated that badly.

You take them to the cabin with you to be safe. Leaving them in a check in bag is dangerous.
