if you master the F2L you must find use in the following.

as you solve pairs you can in the process correct/control other pieces,
right?

by this I dont talk about shortcuts for solving pairs faster, just sorta pre-serving while solving

perosnally I find enough challenge in spotting and solving one pair at a time for now.. but I can imagine being able to control the F2L more in the futur..

just a thought

I don't consider myself a master at the F2L by any means, and I can do that (what you mentioned above). In my mind, to avg. a 7 second F2L would require you to:
1) be able to solve from all angles easily
2) pair and insert pieces with the shortest amount of moves
3) look ahead well - includes watching the future pair(s) while solving the present pair.

I avg around 11-12 seconds for the F2L, and the thing that is my biggest problem is #2, and a little of #1, as well as the speed to keep while looking ahead. These will all improve with practice.

I fail on all of them.. unfortuntly
well but thanks for the input. its great to have a list of gathgories to follow. and it would be great to master just one of them :)

I have a 16-19 sec F2L, so I have enough on the program already

i fail in all of them too. still doing my own F2L and there are not very good. i try to look ahead but most of the time i loos one of the two pieces. so i avg around 25 or 30 sek which makes me mad  . i will start to concentrate more on the F2L because that my weakest part on solving the cube.
