A few months ago Jo?l van Noort said to me to turn the cube a bit slower at the F2L to see the F2L-pairs much better. I did not practise it that much untill I saw Edouard Chambon turning the cube way too slow at the Spanish Open, but he keeps turning the cube constanty and he got ''killer'' times there.
After seeing Edouard turning the cube at that speed I practised for two weeks with turning the cube alot slower and I went for ''speed'' again and my average dropped not by miliseconds, but by seconds.

I often practise slow turning right now and sometimes I'll get an sub 14 solve with it and sometimes I just get barely sub 20 with it, am I doing something wrong? Because my slow turning times are just as fast as my regular ''speedsolves'' times.

Video of an slow solve.
Video of an fast solve.
If I did not had that H-perm it would have been just as fast as my ''slow'' solve.

What are your guys experiences with this type of practise/solves? I am really interested in your comment.

Yah, turning slow to look ahead earlier is the start. Then you would try to turn faster, and still look ahead. At a point you'll be able to turn fast and still look ahead. So at fastest turning speed, you obviously can't really/physically follow the pieces with your eyes, but what I do is see a glimpse of the next pieces in a fraction of a second, then I can "feel" what that pair will end up like when I'm done with the current pair. That comes from practice of course.

P.S. On the slow solves, go fast at the last pair anyway, there's no pair to look ahead, unless you can look ahead for OLL o.O

well if I dont tell myself to turn slow before starting, it always ends up in a stressed, messed up solve with no look ahead.
so its not an oportunity for me :P

Rama, you have had amazing progress over the last couple of months.
I think that the diffences in the times you mention will even out in not long more time. dont worry too much, just keep practicing at slow speed.

one last thing, I kinda liked your first "slow" video better than the example one here. in that one, you had none delays and went straight into your first c/e pair. in the new one, you had a delay after the cross. maybe you should work on that.

A little while ago I read on the groups, that Ron and maybe Gungz and a few others. They were experimenting with a deliberate 1s pause after the cross, to get a look at the F2L.

RonVB's personal best is 9.11, with a 1 second pause after the cross.

I'm not saying its the best idea, but you could give it a shot.

That 1 second pauze wasn't that great for me, I went like ''Wich pair should I do?'' if I had 4 bad F2L pairs.

Mostly if I look at the cross during inspection time I try to find an F2L pair and follow it during the cross-solving, but sometimes I allready have an connected F2L pair that it takes me 5 seconds to do the cross and keep that pair intact, I think I won't do this anymore, it mostly ends up bad for your times.

Thanks for the advice everyone :)

I hate it when I have maybe 2 connected pairs, but with a difficult cross. I find it dificult to ignore the pairs, and end up with like a 15s cross :P

Does that 9.11 mean the entire solve? If it is, that's sweet! Btw, Ron noticed that Gungz did it (somewhat), and so he tried. Gungz was actually following the F2L corner, so when he finish the cross he needs to find the edge of the corner...that's where the pause came from.

Just like when doing the F2L, don't look at the cross pieces when you're solving it (pretend to look to the side of the cube), and you'll subconsciously notice the F2L pieces. Trust me. So practise doing the cross blindfolded (tip from Macky) this helps you do the cross while looking at the F2L. It's all about fast-pace and rhythm!

Yup, although it was quoted as an easy case!

That was my tip! Well, he probably said it before me, but I have said it one or two times! XD!

So Edouard is not fast but at the beginning of getting fast?

Wow I did an 15.91 average just a day after reading that of going slow to a bit faster, it felft very awesome, but it still takes me alot of concentration... I think it will take a while for me to break this average of 12 tough.
