sDLfj's Progression Thread

I felt like the magnets on my 356XS were limiting me a lot for turning speed, so I set the magnets to the medium setting. It is a lot less stable, and I do mess up about once every 3 solves, but I can turn way faster during OLL/PLL and I haven't had a lockup yet. I also got 2 solves within a second of my pb, one of them .1s away. I did 20 solves with this setting and dropped my ao100 from 22.7 to 22.31 (pb was 22.54). I dropped my mo3 from 18.55 to 18.25 and my ao12 from 20.63 to 20.15.

Edit: I also practiced skewb for the first time in forever, and got my ao100 from 13.17 to 11.99.

I'm going to learn some easy OLL's. I already learned the other T-case (R U R' U')(R F R' F'), since I already execute it on the right (for 2-look, there's a chance of (F R U R' U') solving the OLL).

I've only done 20 solves, and I average 30s, with a pb of 26. I still have a long ways to go, but I'm happy with my progress so far.

I've also been working on a letter pair list for bld. I'm very bad at forming images in my head, so I've been using mainly sentences for memo.

I average low 20s in clock now, I got a YS3M for my birthday, and it's an instant main. It dropped my times by about a second, and it still needs broken in. It's also great for OH, and I dropped my times by about 20s with it.

50% done with my letter pair list, I don't really use these pairs much in actual solves yet. I also learned audio memo for corners, which cuts my time down by about 30s.

Had a 59.8s 4x4 DNF. I really wanted a sub-1 and I didn't think I had parity at the end (but I wasn't sure), so I just guessed and stopped the timer, obviously I was wrong, but I don't regret it. Checking wouldn't have been a sub-1 even if there wasn't parity, while checking would've had a guaranteed pb, but possibly not a sub-1.

I practiced 2x2 a lot today and set a pb in every measurement.
Single: 1.83
Mo3: 3.72
Ao5: 3.91
Ao12: 4.76
Ao100: 5.55

Pb single recon:

Good on you for attempting lots of events! I also try to compete in everything I can, though I don’t do BLD or OH. Let me know if you want any clock advice to prepare.
Some advice would be nice, thanks. I average 19s, and I've been progressing pretty steadily. I can provide a video of an average if needed.

I've been practicing clonk and I average 15s now and I'm improving steadily. I'm also practicing big cubes since my competition next month has a 4x4 cutoff of 1:10 (I average 1:15-1:20) and a 5x5 cutoff of 2:15 (I average 3:00). I need to practice 3bld, but I've been doing about an attempt a day (or less), so I really need to start practicing. My competition in a couple months has 6x6 and 7x7 (with generous cutoffs, but it's motivation to practice).
