Scrambling

Does an official or un-official scramble make a difference? I mean if I want to be serious about my scrambling do I have to use the official scrambles or can I just use any scramble i.g. from JNet Cube or whatever?

As far as I know you could just use a computer generated scramble for practicing at home. When I am doing untimer solves I just scramble myself though.
