Science Project Help

The page linked in the OP describes a very unusual approach to solving the cube. Normally you'd find a few short sequences of moves that affects only a few pieces via trial and error, and then use these algorithms as building blocks for solving the whole cube. Move sequence #2 in particular is pretty weird because it cycles five corner pieces and three edge pieces for a total of eight pieces being moved around, which makes it hard to use.

For a logical approach, I second the usage of commutators, but commutators aren't exactly easy to understand for complete beginners and there's also a parity problem. (An easily fixed problem once you understand parity, but that's the hard part!) Otherwise, there're many beginner methods based on repeatedly applying a single four-move algorithm, such as the sexy move method (linked in the previous post) and its many variations.

For yet another alternative, all you need are the J perms.
