Sanding a new cube Question

Hey guys,

I just used 400 grit sandpaper to smooth down the innards of my DIY (rubiks.com) and store bought. Do I need to do anything else before applying the silicone lube? Use steel wool (coarse, med, or fine) on it next, or a higher grit sandpaper to add more of a polish? Or is 400 grit a smooth enough finish?

Thanks in advance ! ! !:)

your not supposed to sand a diy in the first place...

but yeah, use steel wool, and then lube

Says who? I found that I didn't like the feel of my DIY so I roughed it up a little bit with 120 grit sandpaper and continued using it without lube till it stopped producing cube dust. Works great now.

what i mean is, diys are made so that you dont have to do alot of modding. its better to just break it in

My DIY had some seams that were as big as my store bought. Hopefully the sanding does not adversely effect the cube... oh no, I now feel like I committed "cube blasphemy" ! ! ! Please be gentle on me. ;)

Don't worry about sanding a cube. There's more cubes out there that if you mess one up and you can get another.
