So tommorow I am being a walk-around entertainer at a party for about 11-13 yr olds.

What sort of things do you think I could do for entertainment wise, aswell as just solving fast :P

Maybe blindsolve, but only if you average around 1:20 min or so, otherwise it would be boring.

Lubricate it with oil, set it on fire, then solve it wearing gloves of some sort.
I'm 13 and that's been my dream for a while. :D It'd work if it weren't made of plastic :)
EDIT: Buy one of those metal cubes that were floating around on ebay.

Hey Joey, I do cube presentations for kids about the same age level (most are youngers, some are older). I usually do a speedsolve, you can also do a blindsolve, but realize that for kids that young the memo phase is incredibly long and boring to them. I memorize much slower than you do, so this issue might be alleviated if you do it. If you do this, remember to give them frequent updates. "I'm half way through memorizing", "I'm almost done" etc. If you can get them to heckle you, then it makes them have more fun and the time go by better for them. Also, you can give them simple patterns (checkerboard, etc.) and have them try to figure them out.

One handed solves are usually cool for kids too, but BLD goes over much better. If you DNF, then rememo and solve the rest. Usually that is a good way to dodge the "you can't do it!" comments if you DNF.

Also, have a cube you can take apart. I can guarantee you everybody will find it cool, and one or two kids will beg you to be able to try to put it back together (use an old cube). Usually kids place in all the edges and then force pop the corners in afterward, so use a cube you don't care about anymore.

It's joey, so don't worry - he really is that fast. The catch is, he has to practice - he's only that fast if he's in practice.

So get practicing, Joey!

And yeah, Chris's suggestions are all good.

Maybe blindsolve, OH, and if you know how, juggle and solve 3 cubes in a cascade? And don't forget to do the spin after a solve. Easy, and for some reason, it impresses most people.

Solving pyraminx while doing pushups. I push, 1 turn.

Solving cube while riding bicycle or unicycle.

2 cubes with 1 hand.

BLD while drunk

Here's another idea: Get many cubes and create a funny message. Turn the cubes round and don't let them see the message. Play a game of hangman with them. The person who manages to guess the message correctly wins a cube. ;)

Is that even possible? I can't even turn a cube while doing a 3-cascade. :( But if you did a slow one with high tosses i guess...

You can throw a high one and turn with the other hand. I've only seen it done once.

You could involve kids in memorizing part. Tell them what to remember, let them even write it down. Then while doing BLD you can ask them what was next.

Of course it would not be a clean BLD, but general public actually wants to see the solving part mostly. And kids would be more like part of the action.

blade740: I expected nothing less :D

Bryan: uuhhh.. not this cuber :P

cmhardw: Some good suggestions I will take into account.

MikeHughey: Hey man.. I can do sub1:20 without practise... maybe :P My last attempt at home was 52.xx with 3 flipped corners!

fanwuq & luisgepeto: Unfortunatly it did say "no alcohol permitted" at the bottom of the contract :P

~PromiscuousCuber~: With a name like that.. your suggestion ties in nicely :P

Peedu: A nice idea, I'll think about it!

i really recommend getting drunk and doing a blindsolve.

maybe you could memo with them and make up a storyyyyy with them. kids like stories! you could do two move scrambles and get kids to reverse them, my family like that.
