I believe my site was down for a long time and without a certificate, I apologize. The good news is it is better now than ever. I have added a beginner method page, and a Beginner cross solving mode. I kept the Shortest cross mode, and added Advanced mode. There are other fixes and improvements across the site, so I hope you will enjoy my finally complete ad-free site.

The Advanced Cross Solver

Advanced mode on the Cross page ranks solutions by ergonomics instead of move count. Each of the eighteen face turns carries a weight, so a solution's ergonomic cost is the sum of its moves: R and U are cheap, F is moderate, B is expensive because it usually costs a regrip, etc. The cross is solvable in eight moves or fewer. One Dijkstra pass over the reversed move graph precomputes the true minimum cost from every arrangement, cross-checked by an A* search using a pattern database. It solves scrambles in a few milliseconds across all six colors. The solves presented are grouped by color and sorted by ergonomic cost rather than length, the recommendation is sometimes longer than the shortest solution: in nearly a third of scrambles a smooth seven move solve beats an awkward six.
