Have a speedcubing ideal in mind that doesn't focus soley on speed, like minimal moves (like me) or max fluency or lookahead, whatever.
Speedcubing isn' just algs; the real fun begins when you solve quickly AND intuitively, like blockbuilding, and influence whenever the chance is ripe (like partial EO). Learning about all the different blockbuilding methods and strategies on SS is a real treat.
Try elegant but obscure methods and substeps like Heise, Cardan Reduction, Polaris, etc. Besides, Roux will never upset you in terms of room in improvement, be it blockbuilding or figuring out fingertricks.
Try to incorporate indirect solving in your attempts. I highly recommend practising EO on any axis. This is powerful for FMC and improving speed and OH ergonomics. Pseudo blocks and nonmatching blocks are also useful and fun.
Practice global techniques such as pseudo and nonmatching recognition.
Perhaps you could cube not only as a speedcuber but also as a method tester?
