I made a python camera app designed for things like speedcubing, where you can do 100 solves but only get one you want to save. Instead of having a button to stop the camera, there are 2 buttons. The green button stops the recording and saves the video, and the red button stops the recording and deletes the video. It doesn't work on replit, so you'll have to download it. Here is the command to install the modules needed via pip:

pip install opencv-python pygame

And here is the link. https://github.com/tac0coder/ReTake

Tell me your thoughts, and tell me the numerous bugs that will be there.

Edit: If the in-project instructions aren't clear, ask me to clarify.

Spent some time trying to port it to C++ (a language I previously never knew) so it could compile to .exe so people with windows (Sorry Mac/Linux users) could run it and it could become more helpful and accessible to the community. Unfortunately, it turned into the classic “it works on my device” scenario. When I publish it in Visual Studio Community 2022, it doesn’t work because something about security. So just wondering if anyone here can code more than one line of C++ without opening 21738971 tabs and can help me. Thanks!

I’ll put it on Github sometime, but I’m not on my computer right now.

Been a while from this and I worked on it a while ago but never updated this. “I” made (by made I mean copy and pasted other people’s code) it in html and js. Pretty simple if unintuitive UI, stop and delete to start recording a new video, stop and save to “save” the video to a queue. Save all videos to actually download all of the videos in the queue. Mobile users, I’m sorry because I’m not sure how to be able to switch cameras and microphones on here, but desktop users can use the dropdown menus to change the microphone and video source. ALSO mobile users, i’m not sure safari lets you download multiple, so after getting stopping and saving a video you like, I’d select “download all” to download it.

Try it out here: https://tac0coder.github.io/Retake-Web/ (yay github pages)

If you would like me to css it and give it a decent UI I don’t mind taking that on, it really won’t take long. If you have the repo, (and are happy with all the coding you’ve done on it), I don’t mind creating a pull request with everything on it for you to merge
