Id just like to say, after doing the 3x3 rubiks cube for less than a day now, including learning time, I can solve in 1 min 15 secs. Which of course sucks compared to everone else, but just gimme some time and soon ill be better (: thank you to all. Quick question, What do you prefer as the best speed cube? Thanks (:

Wow, it took me weeks to get that fast!
Everyone has different preferences for their cube, and there are lots of threads going over them. I like Type F or Type F-II cubes.

Very nice times. I took about a week. I then switched to Fridrich. I like F2. You can buy it on cubeforyou for under $10 (my guess)

Personally, for a beginner, I'd go with a Type A III.
You can buy these cubes off of Cube4You.com.
Also, I learned this past January, and would get under a minute for a month! You're epic fast. Look out, Erik, he's some competition XD.

I recommend all beginners to learn the CFOP system--Cross, First two layers (at the same time), then Orientation of the last layer (flipping all the stickers up), then Permutation of the last layer (getting the last layer pieces in place).

So, yeah. Also, buy some heavy duty silicone spray. Two highly recommended brands are CRC and Jig-A-Loo. You can find these at auto shops and hardware stores usually.

If you have small hands, I recommend a mini Type C.

If you need a good timer, download CCT (CALCubeTimer) from http://cube.garron.us. That is about it for this post.
Happy cubing!

The most reliable (and best cube i have ever used) is an old Type A. This is a very common and is great for beginners. You can get this cube at almost every online cube store. About $8-10 +shipping.

Great post. Really helpful, and good info.

Awesome times for only a week man. Next time please use the accomplishment thread.

There is no best speed cube. Find the one that works best for you. Type C and type A are seeming to be the popular diys though.
No, he's introducing himself. This is not something he should post in the accomplishment thread.

Also, read the thread better, he's only been solving the 3x3 for less than a day.

Welcome, and congrats. That's very nice times. =) It looks like you have a talent for these things. One thing, make sure your Youtube is correct, Just type in your username, not the whole adress. I can't access it.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe you've only been solving the cube for under a day. On your Youtube, it says you are currently memorising all the algs for Ortega in 2x2, and your 3x3 broke, so you are getting 3 new ones from friends. Try not to work up a bad rep of lying.

First off, Im not lieing. I got my 2x2 and 3x3 two days ago, as soon as i got them, i searched methods all day, i tried learning ortega for the 2x2 (currently working on still) and my 3x3 broke almost instantaneously, so my buddy gave me his about an hour later. today at school, i got another (crap) cube form a friend, I will tell you honestly, i am not lieing.

"Lieing" is spelled lying.

When did you find time to learn if your cube broke after only 1 hour?

Although if your telling the truth that is very impressive, I've taught about 5 people & it took them all about 1 week to get where you are.

I just dont understand the disbelief everyone has. I can honestly say after 1 day of cubing on a 3x3, I timed myself with an online timer, getting a 1 min 15.03 exactly

Oh, now I believe you. I thought you meant an average. You probably got a skip.

Well I scrambled according to the website that timed me, my 5 averaged was 1 min 38.05 secs.

I wouldn't doubt it normally, if his story was consistent. I believe it's definitely possible, but I don't think it's true in this case, sorry.
