question about algs.

im new to speeding and am trying to learn the F2L method and just got lost with the notations used here http://www.cubewhiz.com/f2l.html

why are some of the parts of the alg in Parenthesis?

As far as I know, parentheses break the alg into sections and help make it easier to memorise.

They have groups of moves; the brackets don't mean anything.
But for example, (R U R' U') is used alot so in brackets it helps you memorise it.

Parentheses are used for separating the algorithm into smaller parts. It can also be used to write sections that repeat. For example (R U R' U')3 means to do R U R' U', 3 times.
