Cross on TOP

Pros:
Better for beginners.
Better Fingertricks
Naturally comfortable

Cons: Un-enables you to look ahead as well.

Cross on LEFT

Pros:
Make use of M moves and the full extent of U and R.
Look ahead = OK

Cons: Look ahead isn't GREAT.
Most people will have to make a cube rotation after the cross

Cross on BOTTOM

Pros: Look ahead is GREAT.
Flows fluently into F2l.

Cons: Some people may not be comfortable with it.

i'd say cross on top has better finger tricks because doing U/U'/U2 is so easy. And adjusting that cross layer as you insert pieces from different sides, i think is pretty important. With cross on bottom you can either do u/u'/u2 or D/D'/D2, neither of which are very comfortable.

a huge cons to cross on top is that you have to rotate the entire cube when you are done. It takes relatively a lot of time when we are talking teen seconds

Cross on top is not harder than cross on bottom at all. You only think that because it is difficult to switch. If people are taught cross on bottom first, it is no harder to teach.

I typically use cross on top, but sometimes do cross on left depending on the case. Cross on top will obviously give you less look-ahead compared to cross on left or top, or D moves tend to be less finger-trick-friendly.
