just curious how you all went about it when you first got into cubing? For instance, did you stick with your first puzzle type until you got really good? really fast, etc? Or did you branch out first, then come back to a particular puzzle to really make progress? Get me?

For instance, I am a brand new cuber.. just broke 2 minutes for the first time with the beginners method. Don't know cfop or any other advanced method. So, the problem is, I have a 2x2 and a pyraminx coming in the mail (talk about a good problem to have, eh? :-)) So, progress on the 3x3 is about to come to a shrieking halt, know what I mean? How did y'all go about balancing this type of situation?

Thanks!

I don't think it's going to really affect you. The 2x2 will probably help with things like TPS and looking ahead for pieces, and the pyraminx will teach you some new skills you may be able to transfer over to the 3x3.

The first cube i ever used was a key chain cube my friend had and we used that between us for a while until it was worn down to the point it would pop non stop... then i used a rubik's brand until i was sub-1.
