You write with white font over dark background so it's how I planned.

Speedsolving was my first and only forum I use. I've seen other forums, and they seem less...formal. Especially the ones with the black background and smilies on ever post. I think this is fine the way it is. Some small changes to the existing one may be fine, but getting completely rid of the current one isn't necessary.

This is a perfect reason of why we SHOULDN'T change to this layout.

Use of CAPs.
Lack of proper capitalization and punctuation.
10 exclamation marks in four sentences.
2 smilies.

Although a dark background is nice on the eyes and some may think of it as more modern, The gray and white text, and layout in general totally kills that benefit, however. On that note, it'd be nice if PJK could add a slightly darker background option.

Not bad. I really don't mind the grey text since I visit Sherdog(MMA Forum) from time to time and they also use a grey text/black background format, but I can see why others are bothered by it. Not very appealing to those who have bad eyesight. I like it though! Good job.

I think the grey text is just for fixed forum messages on the welcome screen... I assume white will be used for regular posting.
I love dark themes, so this one got my attention. The only problem I find is the horizontal size of the layout: unless it can expand full screen like the current layout does, I would rather stick to this one.

Well I do not suggest to replace it with current one, vBulletin has a possibility to run 2 and more themes in the same time so that's what I have on mind. Look at the left bottom of your screen, you can see an option called Quick Style Chooser.
