I'm using Petrus method at the moment, which means all my LL edges are already correctly oriented on arrival. I've reached the stage where I'm going to have to start getting the whole last layer down in less than 4 stages. Is it worth just learning Fridrich from here on? I'll have less OLL to learn, what with the edges already being there. Do any other Petrus users know if it makes any difference at all, learning Fridrich or learning those methods Lars demonstrates on the site? One better than t'other?

I use Petrus's method... I know a good chunk of COLL but not all of it...OLL +PLL is very easy especially if you only have to learn 6 OLL cases to have a 2 look last layer(AWESOME!). Ideally you should know both but I think OLL + PLL is easier to pick up. COLL is very powerful and you get a 1/12 chance at a Edges skip on the last step. On Lars's site, what he calls "step 5+6" is a home brew COLL that is made of combinations of 8 algs. They are definitely not optimal for speed or move count but are easy to learn because of how few algs there are(he does have some optimal algs on there though). I would look for better COLL algs if you want to go that route. Recognition is harder with COLL but like anything else it gets easier with practice until it becomes automatic.

Not sure what the C in COLL stands for, but I get the jist of what you're saying. I'll have a hunt around, see what some Fridrich sites can teach me.

And just while I'm here, what's the BLD in your signature stand for?
