I was just wondering what you guys think would be the best finish for Petrus with OH short of ZBLL.
There seems to be so many options but I have so few numbers on move counts then you would have to take into account recognition as well. I have been conteplating Petrus for OH for awhile and it would really help to have a set LL goal to work to to finish off my solves. Currently I use 5+6 for most solves.
On the Petrus website he says 5+6 is more important then 6+7. He wasn't obviously talking of OH but I still don't know why he would say that.
My options I am looking at are these 3:
MGLS- obviously only CLS is really needed since edges are already done. 2-gen is good and PLL is already fast.
Algs- ~50 Moves- 9.5+13
5+6- I don't really like a few of the cases mainly most of the Sune cases. step 7 for the finish is pretty fast tho.
Algs- ~40 Moves- 13+12
6+7- Of my step 5+6 algs my favorites are the ones that contain niklas and sune variants. So I think starting with niklas (plus one other alg) to do step 5 than finishing everything 2-gen would be very fast.
Algs- ~50 Moves-~8.5+14
I think I may do MGLS it seems to have good movecount and recognition. All the other ones require you to recognize both orientation and permutation at once.

You know what I'm going to say. ;)
Step 4b becomes a joke ("Haha, two moves!"), and each step does more.
5+6+7 is full ZBLL, and leaving 5 or 7 alone is a waste of a step.
More algs for CLS actually means that you're getting more done with those moves, saving time...

Yea I think I agree with you. And if you combine step 4a and b into putting that edge in the final slot you are good to go with 2-gen. The only not fun part about it is mirroring or do you have every single case on your site including the mirrors?
Idk I'm still no good at Petrus yet but it is a good summer project I suppose.

I think with MGLS you are looking at a few more than 50 algorithms.... ELS is around 20 (if you count mirrors or inverses, or whatever they're called) and I think CLS is around 100 cases. Lucas, could you shed some light on these numbers?

It's 56, and ELS is nothing, really...
However, I'm replacing most of my algs so that I can do them with RU and the slot at FR.
Some of the algs are a bit awkward to mirror but have easy/better algs for mirrors (like R'U'RU'R'U2...), so I'm heading to something like 80 algs...
(Hey, we just established that more algs=gets more done, right? :p)

If you're not using 2-gen CLS, you're missing out on the fun part of OH (PLL is still deadly, though).

what about the pseudo zbll 5+6+7 method by petrus where every ZB case is made as a combination of 2 out of 40 algs and the 40 algs alone. Only 2-3 moves over the ZBLL algs on average.

hmm that could work as well, I had forgotten about that one. I'll look into that one as well.
It's so annoying using systems no one else does tho because you have to find your own algs. But with only 40 algs it may be worth it just to make the system even if I don't use it. He has all the combos but Petrus just plain uses some funny algs.
