I'm looking into doing some parital edge control in my CFOP solves. I've looked at a lot of the common tricks for inserting the last pair while avoiding the dot OLL's, but they are designed for F2L with cross on buttom. These don't work well for cross on left, at least not for me (U F' U' F :( ).

I would like to know if other cross on left users use edge control and if so, which tricks you have found. I have looked but don't like much of what I've found.

I was hoping to avoid cube rotations, but on the other hand I have to rotate after F2L anyway. I'll try it an a few solves to see how I like it.

Thanks for your suggestions :)

Thanks David. I don't think edge control with cross on left is used much.

I only use this so far:

setup up: (R U R' U')x3
solve: y2 z R2 U R' F R F' R U'

y2 u R' u' B2

I only use the last one if the y2 is already done for me.

Are you sure you typed this one correctly? When would you ever do y2 during f2l?

Did you read the last sentence correctly?

yes, your telling me that you would only use that alg to orient last layer edges in a situation where you can skip the y2 rotation of the alg because it's already done. Am I right?
If I am, please give me an example f2l solve involving y2. (and check if the alg you posted is correct)

If you want to do any algorithm with cross on left, just translate the algorithm.
What I mean is that for me:
U is R
F can be both U and F
R is both D and F
L is both U and F
B is B (but you dont use it)
and D is L. However, I never use it, (only while making the cross).
and d or d' would be l' or l.

solve: y2 z U R U' R U' y R U l'

Boom.

seriously ?

Check Davids post again. Try the example.

Your right, I meant x2. Oops.

The problem is, these don't give very good finger tricks when translated.

uh....dude its the last pair...ur gonna have to rotate it so that the cross is on the bottom for oll and pll...just rotate it earlier for R' F R F'....
