One-answer threads - what to do about them?

wow

mods do this so the forum doesn't get cluttered

what you're doing is a perfect example of clutter

these threads don't even need a god damn poll

The thing is, the intelligent speedcubers that KNOW THE ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS don't ever check the One Answer Question Threads.

You're basically hoping that somebody else with a stupid question about applying half-bright stickers to a Barrel Cube can identify the problem with your sticky Pyraminx tips.

The megathreads are nonsensical. The better way to solve the problem of thread clutter is to have ACCURATE, SUMMATIVE DESCRIPTIONS of your question in the THREAD TITLE. Thus that when your question is answered, people can search their questions in the SEARCH BAR and get some relevant search results to solve their own problem without having to post a new thread again.

The only thing that megathreads do is convert thread clutter to post clutter at the expense of finality.

Landshark? If Feliks likes this picture then i do too!

but seriously, all those questions you have asked about what Feliks uses or does, you can just PM him as he (not the people of this forum) is the only one who can answer those things.

EDIT: now it's gone?

I think it's good the way it is. It'd be easier to keep track of who's responding to who in the One Answer Question Thread if you switch to hybrid or threaded viewing mode.

Agreed, I've always thought that that thread was an ineffective way of getting your questions answered. I don't see how the forum can get "cluttered" either, it's a website, not a house. If anything is clutter, it's the endless videos of solves.

The amount of bad and noobish threads asking questions that have been answered 10+ times is way bigger than the amount of solve videos. People need to learn to use the search function

I've stopped visiting this forum for like one year simply because of the quantity of noobish threads that are cluttering this forum.

There are no bad questions, dude. New cubers are not below us. Being an experienced cuber is kinda like being the oldest kid in a kindergarten class.

There may not be bad questions (although that's debatable), but there are certainly bad threads, dude. If a search reveals dozens of posts asking the same question along with dozens of answers, it's not worth starting another new thread.

I almost wish the OP's threads were still open so you could see just how bad they were.

Maybe add to the 'please read before posting' disclaimer that any such threads will be deleted out of hand. If people want to post a video in the solve critique thread, and so get a personalised critique of their solving style, then feel free, but 90% of the nuisance threads (I've counted... only kidding, I plucked this number out of thin air) are people asking for generic advice based on ridiculous statistics that don't add up about their own performance.

You've posted some stats about yourself, and want advice on what to work on? You can't expect personally-tailored advice if you don't post a video. DELETE.

If you want to know how to get sub-20, look in the 'How to get sub 20' thread. DELETE.

You want to know how to work on lookahead/cross/LL drills. Use the motherloving search function. DELETE.

These people are totally ignoring the 'READ BEFORE POSTING' notice, and should not only have their threads deleted, but receive a PM from the mods telling them why. Repeat offenders should get warnings or bans. If anything, I'm in favour of more Nazi-ish behaviour from the mods!

= tidy forum with healthy exchanges of opinions, and happy community! :-D

I already said that I don't have a decent camera, so that arguement's flat.

= empty forum with one jumbled-up thread with useless exchanges of insults (like "learn roux"), and a strict, ruled-over community. :-( I literally hate this forum because of these threads, as do some other users who have already posted in this thread.

And, as you can see, there are already 4 people on my side of the argument.

No camera? Then don't expect personally-tailored advice.

This is the only speedcubing forum with any decent member base (except that I can't benefit from that member base because of the damned one-answer threads).

EDIT: Now there's 5 people on my side!

aaaaaaaaaaw SNAP!

learn to use the forum properly and stop complaining. you already have your what am i doing wrong thread. there is no need to have 10 threads all dedicated to you. as to how to practice and how to look ahead and questions like that, there is as many has said a search function. Also what i did was, instead of annoying people who has answered the same questions 100s of times, search up a tutorial on youtube or something. i never had the need to start a thread, the information is out there man!

@speedcuber50

i dont see 5 people, i see a guy called owen suggesting that there are no bad questions.
