Just wanted to get back on my last forum post.

We had first "senior competition" at 10.9.2026 and about half of the competitors were seniors. We had a live chat and competitors enjoyed the competition and we had good chat discussions - from people in different countries and different speeds. Concept seemed to work - cubing community works also online from Your homes!

We will have competitions also in the future - I cannot guarantee how often, but the next ones are 21.9.2026 (3*3, 2*2 and 4*4) and 22.9.2026 (Pyraminx, Clock and 5*5). These competitions are open for everyone and we start at 19.30 Finnish time.

I will try to take part tonight. 5x5 is the most interesting event for me, but possibly also in Pyraminx (if I can remember how to solve it). Not really sure how the online system works and the timer is a bit different from cstimer, but I'll try my best.

One question: It says "≤ 2:30" for 5x5, but that doesn't seem to be a strict time limit? Is there a limit for each solve or is it okay to just be able to finish all solves within the time on the schedule? I average somewhere around 4 minutes and if I have 32 minutes for five solves including scrambling it should be enough for me.

I took part and it was fun although a bit stressful. The actual time limit was set to about twice the posted one per solve including scrambling and inspection. I scrambled quickly and solved okay the whole way through and just managed to keep under the time limits. I had a 3.59 average in the first round and 4.09 in the final. Absolutely no time for pauses though. Pyraminx was a bit more relaxed even for slow people like me.

Thank You for feedback! Our website is based on real-time competing; in competition everyone does the same solve and after all the competitors have done it, we go to the next solve. It does mean "that the slowest one determines the pace". We have noticed this, but so far we have had smaller cubes in competition (like 2by2, 3by3, Clock, Pyraminx) and the "speed" has not caused problems. I think it is ok for example in Pyraminx to do 5 solves in a row. But You are quite right; then doing bigger cubes, like 5by5, "the slowest one" will have basically no breaks. That is not our intention. So we are aiming to change the tournament code so, that in bigger cubes there will be a longer pause between solves.

Yesterday we had 32 minutes reserved for 5by5 round. It means that competitors had about 5 minutes to do scramble, inspection and solve per each solve. Basically it is about two times the announced time limit of 2 minutes 30 seconds.

In WCA competitions cut off for 5by5 is usually about 2 minutes (more or less). I personally average about 3 minutes, so I usually get to do only 2 solves in WCA competitions. I hope You Eriol enjoyed of doing 10 solves of 5by5 yesterday - although You were in lot of pressure to finish them in time and had basically no breaks!

We are having more competitions and I will not tell of them here every time. But - we will have this Friday 20.30 Finnish time (probably the first and last time in the world history) competition with only Skewb! We will have 3 rounds of Skewb - and only Skewb. By the way - we are having competions about 2-4 times a month. Next one will be on 10th of November at 20.00 Finnish time. Events are our "most popular ones" - 3by3, 2by2 and Pyraminx.
