New Video

congrats, but i found it weird how you hesitated for long periods of time and still got sub-20. and your beginning was kinda slow too.

Lol, what are you getting at? I use the roux method (as you can see), which can be done with less moves than fridrich (of course depending who is doing it). The reason this one was so fast was because i had pretty much all my fastest (least amount of moves) situations after the first two blocks. You can't see me build the first block exactly, but you can see me with the first pair, then the second pair. Then you can see everything else so you can tell it's not lucky.

Wow, actually ive never seen a roux methoud at all. I might try it after all after seeing that solve.

Richard: and i didnt mean anything negative. i was just curious.

Man, 12 second blocks but the rest in 6?

Just work on the blocks and you'll be really fast.

MasterofRubiks, we're, cool, you should check out gilles roux video on strangepuzzle.com , click videos, and type his name in. His fastest video on there is what inspired me to learn roux. It's just fricken amazing! Kirjava's not too bad either :P

OMG, i just tried the roux method. didnt seem too complicated at first but when i realized i was using fridrich f2l to create the 1x1x3 block i just gave up. are there any tips roux users can give me to make the transition as smooth as possible?

Roux is pretty cool. I remember when Richard and I started, we were both using Fridrich, and he swtiched over, and the switch took his times way down, and now he is almost caught up to me again. Roux definitely has some potential, nice solve Rich.

So ive finally decided not to learn roux, but i may learn to build the blocks in the beginning instead of fridrich f2l. any thoughts about this?

If you want to learn to build blocks, try Petrus and/or Heise. Roux isn't a good choice if you want to use OLL and PLL.

Richard: Well with what you expained to me the other day, even with the DF and DB edges, it could still be faster than cross+4xF2L pairs.

Johannes: What exactly is Petrus and Heise? Sorry I'm not very familiar with the different methods.

PJK: well it wont be a problem then because my current f2l is 80% intuitive with just a little touch of experience for speed.
