Hi Guys,
This is my first post on here so not really sure how things are run.
Just wanted to introduce myself on here and let you guys know my personal background to the cubes and how I got involved, my times e.t.c.
I first learnt the 3x3 after seeing my friend do it. It took my a total of around 3 weeks learning layer by layer. My friend taught me the first 2 and I taught myself (from the Rubik's cube website) how to do the 3rd. I first completed the 3x3 with no instructions on the 9th July 2014; so I've been solving it for not such a long time as is probably reflective on my personal best of 1 minutes and 9 seconds.
I then decided that I wanted a new challenge and bought the 2x2 which I worked out how to solve in about 5 minutes and my personal best is 16 seconds.
I stupidly thought that the 5x5 was easier than the 4x4 (and in some aspects it is, mainly centre pieces existing in the 5x5) and bought that first. It took me around 5 days of struggling to understand the videos and other guides I found online to sift through the 4x4 references and work out how to solve it. My personal best is 12 minutes but I only learnt off by heart one parity error solution so the edge pairing takes me quite some time.
Around last week I got the 4x4 and am pretty good at it (haven't timed myself yet) but I just need to learn the parity error solution's when solving the 3x3 part and then I'll be good to go.
So I can do all the classic Rubik's cubes and I hope to move on to the 6x6 and 7x7 variations but I've started focusing on some other puzzles;
I purchased both the Rubik's Void Cube (I believe that's what it's called) and the Rubik's Cube Tower. I also just need to learn the parity error solution for the void but when it doesn't occur I'm quite fast but not as fast as the 3x3 mainly because the void lacks a ball in the centre so doesn't move as swift. With the Tower I just need to swap round two corner pieces and I'm done but I am currently having trouble finding a website that provides a solution to that (that was the reason I joined so that I could find a solution).
Otherwise I'm now hoping to use this website to find faster solving methods for the 3x3 and to find new challenges!
