First of all, hello everyone. I am new here and thought i'd finally register and say hi.

My question: I learned to solve a 3x3 with very basic moves. I can solve the cube from between 1:13 to 2:10, with an average of 1:50. I really want to break under one minute.

I learned to solve the cube using this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=LHFiZrVSGeA&mode=related&search=

What would be the next step in decreasing my time. Thanks in advance.

Try learning the solution taught by Tyson Mao on www.rubiks.com
He explains the basic solution very well and when I started learning this method, I was solving the cube from 53 seconds to 1:20 with an unlubed store cube. :)

Hello and welcome to this forum !
You can improve by simply practising or you could consider moving to Fridrich
I did not watch the video you are linking completely but I suppose your method and Fridrich one are quite close, the main difference being: instead of fixing corners first (after the cross) and then the second layer, you solve both at the same time.
Dan made a wonderful site about it:
http://www.cubestation.co.uk/cs2/index.php?page=3x3x3/3x3x3 (then choose CFOP)
Or if you more into video, you could look at the great video of Erik:

I suppose you could also search a little bit in this forum for useful hints/advice...

I think that I will use the F2L move. great next step. I guess it removes one of my steps completely. Instead of solving corners after the cross, and then layer 2, i can complete layer 2 while solving corners in almost the same amount of time with a little practice.

Thanks guys. I think this will shave 30-40 seconds.
