Hmm...began playing with a 3x3 around January 24th using Tyson Mao's beginner method. Began looking at Badmephisto's vids and began intuitive f2l about 5 days ago. My cube's a rubik's...hard to turn and all that but tis all good:)

This is my first puzzle game, I like sports, particularly basketball and football (americans say soccer) and would like to get my solves down to 30 seconds. O yea, I also bought a 2x2 with my 3x3 and can solve the 2x2 in about 1 minute and the 3x3 in about 1m 40sec.

O yea...I'm hooked on FB Bejeweled Blitz (though I didn't play this week for personal reasons)

Intend to be here regularly...yall keep good and happy cubing!!!!

um... dont use F2L yet.... stick with beginner til u sub 1minute.... learning too much can hinder your times by A LOT.
badmephisto is the correct place to go though...
oh and buy a DIY... i recommend a dayan guhong or a FII for a beginner (AV pops far to much, youll get annoyed with it)

Actually, forcing yourself to use a beginner method until you are under 60 seconds would slow you down.

using a beginner method can hinder your times. Why would you not want to use F2L?

If he's getting sub 1 minute times with F2L, he's likely more than ready to use it.

Some people start with F2L and skip beginner's method.

I immediately regret not pressing the quote button.

Tom Cochran...

Life Is A Highway

Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's ne day here and the next day gone
Somethimes you bend and sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your head to the wind
There's a world outside ev'ry darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate
Break down the garden's gate
There's not much time left today

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood
I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors

Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
There was a distance between you and I
A misunderstanding once
But now we look in the eye

There ain't no load that I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long...?...?...!

ill use a quote... he said 1minute 40. thats not sub minute.

the reason i said dont go to f2l quite yet is because learning too much can sometimes put you off.

id stick to beginners method and sub minute it, or if not just concentrate on how the algorithms you use in your beginners method work.
if you want to learn f2l u can, i just tried to offer my opinion on what i would do... sorry -.-

When I teach people, I first evaluate their spatial understanding. I teach them a method based on how well they can understand the cube. There have been people to whom I taught f2l on day one and they picked it up off the bat. Of course, these people were the ones who needed absolutely no explanation about the cross and stuff. More than half of f2l was obvious to them. The concepts of free slots and pair insertion (which most of my students struggle with) were things I never needed to tell them. And then there were students who struggled with things as simple as lbl. It all depends on how dedicated you are and how well your spatial understanding is developed.

If he can figure out how to do it, good for him!

Anyway, welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy your time here :)

I discovered whole soulution to 3x3 by myself, but when I watched badmephisto's videos about F2L, I understood it better... IMO Petrus and F2L are best ways to improve intuitive solving
