Need some F2L help!!

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll solve each day untill my fingers hurt :p

Btw, is it possible to get sub-30 av without learning full OLL an PLL???

It takes a lot of work to get sub-30. It's doubtful that you'll get it in a month unless you are just that naturally gifted. I learned full PLL when I was about 42-43 seconds. It didn't make much of an impact the first month after I learned it. After I got full PLL down good it takes about 3 seconds less for me to solve with full PLL rather than 2-look.

I don't really think it does. As I recall it only took me a month or two from when I first started cubing (solving over a minute for a while). I recall being about 26 seconds by 4 months, and sub20 by half a year. These are by far not unusual numbers for cubers. It depends on how much time you put into it.

I wouldnt say they are typical at all. Otherwise why do we have so many cubers over 20 seconds? Are they all brand new to cubing? If you are ranked #1 nationally I don't think you represent the usual cuber.

Sub20 is way harder than sub30 and takes way more time (and Dene said that in his post). Sub30 is pretty easy to get as long as you practice. The faster you get the harder it is.

I definetly would say that as well. It took me forever to start getting sub 20's. After you get 5-6 though, it starts getting easier

For now I'm still working on a consistent sub-50 ao5

I lol'd. How many speedcubers are there in NZ, 3? I might be exaggerating a little, but I think NZ NRs might be even easier to get than Australia. Not that Australia is easy, we have some pretty fast people, one being obvious. Not saying Dene's times aren't pretty good, either.

Just saying, most cubers are a "typical" cuber, even WR holders. It all depends on the amount you practise, and how WELL you practise.

Well, considering there are people that have become sub20 in less than half the time it took me, I hardly think those time-frames are unreasonable. The only reason one would not get sub20 is a lack of practise, which is your own fault.

Getting sub30 from where you are in about a month is VERY possible. Just practice. I did it. and I still suck. but at least I'm sub30. lol
but once you get there you will still think you are slow and want to get faster... it's a never ending feeling. it's delicious. =P. anyway just practice. I think a metronome is good. It doesn't help everybody though. if f2l is your troube do about 20-30 solves a day only f2l(going slow making sure there aren't pauses and gradually increase speed over time). and the same with only bld cross. Dan Harris has a good page about The Cross. the best I've seen. as for LL... 4 look then after you get sub35 learn 3 look( 2look oll and 1 look pll) hope this maybe helped.

don't think I'm gonna get sub-30.
Have some trouble getting consistent sub-40 times.
Probably because I haven't got a lot of time to practice, only just finished my paper...

Ah, so you haven't been doing your 50 solves every day?

I'm prepared to give you an extension of a week. This is a bet that I will not lose.

Come on. Keep pushing! It took me right around a month and a half to drop to sub-30 times from 60-second times. Good luck and keep pushing. If you get a decent amount of practice in during this final week, I think that you can at least get a sub-30 time, maybe sub-35 average. Good luck (:
