so i'm getting sub 1-40s now which is bad in my opinion, for the past two days i could manage centers under 17sec and dedges under 40... still need practice tho
but when i get the the "solve as a 3*3" part i die completely, i get around 50 -60 seconds even though i am averaging sub 17 on a regular rubiks cube.

can anyone give me some tips on how to solve the last part faster than i can now?(i know full f2l oll and pll) or is finishing it in 50-60 seconds normal.

I also have the same problem. I don't know why, my cube isn't slow and my look ahead isn't bad, and I average about 20 on 3x3 but over 50 doing that part on big cubes. (I'm worse at centers/edges, 40 centers, 70 edges.)

Anyone tried doing normal 3x3x3 solves with normal 3x3x3 scrambles on an abnormal 3x3x3 cube which happens to be a 4x4x4 cube? I know Syuhei Omura does this (well he's done it at least once, on YouTube.) I do it too, helps. I average ~17 on a normal 3x3x3 and get sub-30 solves on a 4x4x4 without parity, and my 4x4x4 sucks big time, locks too much, so since your average on a normal cube is about the same as mine, you should be able to sub-25 with a decent 4x4x4.

Then practice spamming both parity algs, especially OLL parity, there really isn't any need to go slow and look ahead for OLL parity since it's pretty long, just slow down towards the end to look ahead for the OLL case. As for PLL parity, I personally end it with Uw2 instead of u2 (new WCA notation) because there's probably an AUF anyway, unless I already know what/how I should AUF before I execute the PLL parity alg.

I have around 15-25 - 30-45 - 25-40 (including parities)
I average around 1:30 in total and like 16-17 on 3x3 cube.
I think you should do some averages for the 3x3 on 4x4 and try to cut that down also do it with no inspection because the cross is the main problem in my opinion, so just throw your cube rotating in the air and put it down so you start with a random front also ^^ since I don't think this will be the same in normal 4x4 solves.

well for now i dont even know if i have a decent 4*4 or not... dan dzoan never let me use his rubiks cuz he said its good so he only use it for comps, he practices with his eastsheen lol

You should try to practice 3x3 solves on a 4x4 cube. 50-60 seconds when you average 17 normally is really slow.

I average around 20 seconds on the 3x3 phase of a 4x4 solve excluding parities. I average about 15 on normal 3x3. Depending on your cube, you should be able to get around 25-30 seconds for the 3x3 phase.

Its probably still a matter of preference, but you could try using whatever the smaller of the two cubes is. I really don't know which is smaller, to be honest, I've never compared them side to side, if anything, I think the ES may be smaller.

Yeah, I know what you mean. So you might try that, but I don't think your hands are THAT small that it could make much of a difference. But its worth a shot. (I'm biased, I have very large hands, so don't take my word for it)

for me I would prefer es...because my rubik's suks a lot !! I know rubik's need lots of breaking in..but too lazy to do so =P , so I go for es. btw, my hands are small too ^_^. but the size for es 4x4 is still ok, es 5x5 is really small... when I cubed es 5x5 for a few days..when I go back to 3x3..it's like..why is 3x3 so huge !!
