sorta new speed cuber. dabble from time to time

i know full oll/pll but my TPS is awful and lookahead is crap. i average just under 30s

have had zhanchi v5 for some time now but i think it's near end of life. this was my first speed cube however it just isnt smooth anymore and locks up all the time. i have traxxs 50k lube coming next week however so we will see if i can give it life again

i have in the meantime been using an aolong v2 (with whatever lube it came with). my times have increased a few seconds...

anyway i love the feel of the aolong but i like the light weight of the zhanchi. is there such a thing out there or should i just get used to the aolong?

at my current TPS i dont think center caps / corner twisting / etc have ever affected me so that's not an issue when recommending a cube. my zhanchi does pop from time to time but it's my fault for not controlling the turning

To me the QiYi thunderclap is like a light weight AoLong. I often refer to it as AoLong v3. A bit less corner twisting too. The HuaLong is close but quite a bit looser/floppy feeling and I don't think is what you are looking for.

I will be trying a HuaLong with AoLong springs soon though to see what it is like.

I'll say - stick with the current aolong.
As much as I would like to advise expanding your "cube" exposure (different feel of each cube), there will be new "better" cubes coming out every few months or so.

Keep your funds until the aolong fails you (due to inadequacy, or is giving up the ghost). Who knows - by then aolong 4 would be out...and Felixs breaks the world record by 2 secs with it...

Just for interest:
Most of my different cubes feel like they are almost of the same weight (except the meiying, maybe)- the main differences are in the sizes, the noises they make, the catches, and mostly, the turning feel...

oh ya - and the plastic (think aolong v2 enhanced, has better plastic) ;)

You know full OLL and PLL and average just under 30 seconds!?!?!?!/

When I averaged 28 seconds, I knew half of PLL and almost no OLL's
Now, I average 14 seconds, and I know full PLL, and 7 more OLL's to go...

EVEN I DON'T KNOW FULL OLL!!

: D
