Crazy average. Overall easy scrambles and great performance. Very happy with it

Good average. I got several solves with 1 move or solved first layers

I’ve barely touched a cube since I got back from the comp (almost 2 weeks ago). I’ve spammed some algs and done a little bit of casual solving, but literally 0 timed solves.

At some point I’ll do a proper write up of what happened at the comp (although I’m sure I’ll have forgotten some of it now) and my results, but right now I don’t feel like cubing

I got a Gan i3 today, and I’m very happy with it. However, I’ve done about a total of about 15 solves (7 on cubeast and 7 on cubestation), and I’ve gotten 2 sub-10s. I’m very suspicious of cubestation intentionally giving easy scrambles (easy XX cross into OLL skip), but it’s now just happened on cubeast as well. I couldn’t figure out how to extract scrambles from cubestation, but here’s a photo of my solve on there:

And here's the info for the Cubeast solve:

Does anybody know if the two timers are actually using random state? Because if so, both of those are by far my best times since I started cubing again (I have 2 9s other than that), and I was just solving relatively casually playing around with the apps and the cube

First time buying cubes since coming back to cubing?

please don't be humble.

It’s worth pointing out I haven’t been doing any cubing. I bring the Gan i3 with me to different places I go now, so I do occasionally solve, but I don’t do any dedicated practice at the moment.

Anyone know of a cubeast-like app that works on iPhone? Preferably without the alternate browser app
There is a great one I use called cubetime. It works really well and has a nice app setup. Use that.

I mean, can’t you just get the gan app?

That’s what I’m currently using, but it leaves much to be desired. It has some nice visuals but is annoying to actually extract data from and use in a useful way. I’m also quite suspicious that the scrambles aren’t actually random state. Cubeast is much better but doesn’t work on phone, so I was asking if there was an alternative

My thread doesn't show up at the top whenever I search "My Cubing Journey" anymore and it's quite upsetting.

Anyway, I signed up for FSUbers 4.0 (terrible pun). Events are 3x3, 2x2, 7x7, Clock (Tommy WR maybe?), Pyra. Honestly I don't have that much free time at the moment, and when I do have free time I prefer to do things other than cubing. This will likely be my first comp where I don't really PR or do "that well" and am focusing purely on the fun aspect of it (even though I had a ton of fun at the others too).

3x3 I don't particularly have a goal since I'm probably a couple seconds slower than I was. 3x3 has always been a bit of a struggle for me; it's difficult for me to get into a pattern with and can feel very clunky and slow, but is quite enjoyable when I am in the rhythm. I probably won't practice enough for that to happen. I guess a 15 average would be nice but if I continue to not practice it's possible even that doesn't happen.

2x2 I might practice a little bit, so I'm hoping to get at least a sub-5 average (I was previously globally around 4.2, but now I'm probably closer to 4.5 now). A PR single (currently 3.25) is definitely possible but completely depends on the scrambles. Also a PR average (currently 4.28) is completely possible with good scrambles and good execution; it's not unusual for me to get sub-4 averages at home.

I want to be able to reach cutoff for 7x7, but I both dislike and am bad at big cubes so there's a very high chance I don't. At the very least I want to stackmat a solve (yes, I'm that bad at it. I haven't solved a 7x7 timed in a couple months at least).

Clock I probably won't practice, and my current PR is pretty solid (13.93). Tbh I don't care much about it but assuming I don't lose all of my skill I want a sub-15 average at least. A good scramble could definitely lead to a PR single (currently 12.58), but I wouldn't expect that to happen.

I used to be okay at pyraminx (I think around sub-5) but it's been legitimately nearly 3 years since I've practiced it at all, and I don't even completely remember L4E. I have no goal because this completely depends on if I practice at all, but sub-10 would be pretty decent I guess.

So yeah, overall definitely looking forward to the comp, although it's a bit of a drive for me. I won't be going with anyone but it should be quite fun regardless.

It's interesting to think that this thread alone has nearly 500 replies and has been viewed almost 25,000 times. To me it just seems like my little progression thread I made a few years ago and occasionally post in, but when you think about it that's a lot of interaction. I know a lot of those views are clicking on and then immediately off of the thread or from guests or multiple from one person, but it's still crazy to think about. 25,000 is a very large number.
