so im a nube(get it, like cube and newb, probably been done before but im still taking credit cause it was an original thought to me) at all this cubing stuff, maybe a week or so in, and i have learned the 4LLL.

the alg i use for the t shirt (Pi, Bruno, Wheel, T-shirt) edge orientation on a 3x3x3 is
f1 L1U1LU f F1 L1U1LU F, now when going to 4x4x4 it says solve the last layer like a 3x3x3 after edges are in but when i use that it breaks up. Is there a way around that or should i choose an alg with no f1/f.

its really the only alg i use for now that has an f so i could easily just learn a new one, but just for future when i go on to learn full cfop or 3LLL id like to learn algs that can translate to bigger cubes.

sorry if i rambled

The rest of your PLLs are fine on 4x4?

The only thing I can think of is make sure on the wide turns to get three layers, not two.

Yeah, like @greentgoatgal said, you're probably doing double-layer turns instead of triple layer turns. In general, once you get to 3x3 stage, only turn the outer layers (unless you have parity). Breaking up the center pieces is impossible on a 3x3, so there's no need to do it once you've reduced a bigger cube into a 3x3.
