could all u cubers out there please kindly tell me
1) all the methods you know for the 3x3x3 rubik's cube
2) what method you use
3) why you like the method
4) and lastly why you think it is better than other methods
Oh! i almost forgot, please tell me your PB timings

To solve a 3x3x3, I use a beginner method that comes from many sources but mostly from Don Taylor's 1981 book, "Mastering Rubik's Cube". Right now I am upgrading to full 2-look OLL/PLL intermediate method and I am just about done in doing this.

Another note: I always orient the corner cubes on the top layer before forming the cross on the top layer. It pays off big time on the even big cubes (no chance of corner cube parity) and on the 3x3 Void cube for the same reason as the 4x4 cube. And it saves me from learning and using some of the 2-look OLL/PLL algs too.

I like the method as it is not too hard and you can always upgrade your method when you get really good with your current one.

Fastest 3x3 time is 90 seconds with an average of 135 seconds. When I get good at full 2-look OLL/PLL, I'll get my PB down to under 60 seconds.

I use fridrich with 3-look LL, my times are in my sig.

I can also do the Petrus method, but it takes me a few minutes to solve the cube with it. I can do Roux and ZZ, but only with the algorithm cheat-sheets in front of me and it takes me a really long time.

Methods, links, advantages, disadvantages (mainly algorithms)

Roux method
Advantages : Very finger friendly, using mostly R U L and M turns (including wide turns)
Disadvantages : Difficult recognition for cmll, block building can be hard to learn

Petrus method

Advantages : can be very fast and easy to advance with, multiple last layer methods, such as oll pll and orient edges, coll epll, zbf2l coll epll

Disadvantages : block building is hard to learn to do, regardless of the last layer system you choose there are many algorithms. (though this applies to most methods)

CFOP (Fridrich Method) :

Advantages : Can be very finger friendly (possibly the most finger friendly of any method) Many many sites and videos to choose to learn from, Most common method at the moment so its easy to get help

Disadvantages : high move count, lots of algorithms (like 68, better than zb though), f2l can be rediculously hard to learn at first (the equivalent of block building), a Cross on bottom to limit moves, beginners can get lost doing cross + f2l on the bottom, building and destroying parts of the cube to move from step to step.

Links : pretty much everywhere, go to the speedsolving wiki if you want, for
f2l algs opticubes.com

ZZ method :

Advantages : very finger friendly at times, not too many algorithms to learn very fast

Disadvantages : eoline can be a hard step (for me anyway but maybe im just stupid), identification needs to be practiced to get good, not many tutorials that arent in polish.

ZB Method

Advantages : if you can manage to learn the rediculous amounts of algorithms and what not, its one of the fastest (maybe THE fastest) methods, however I dont think anyone knows all the cases (mirrors reflections reverses etc) as of now.

Disadvantages : Sooooo many algorithms to learn, unless you can instantly mirror reflect and reverse in your head (but I dont think anyone can do that) rather slow recognition, not all the algorithms are finger friendly so you may need to find your own

Links : Im not sure, ask Jaon Baum

VH : watered down version of zb, not much to say about it just look at zb and think, oh this isnt as bad, replaces zbll with coll and epll

If theres any other methods that im not mentioning im sure youll find them later on. Good luck

lol for a beginner it is waffle, until you learn how to recognize it on your own, thanks voldemort ill correct that, but you need to admit that for a beginner block building isnt exactly a cake walk XD

edit instead of another post : and i dont see you guys listing all the common/well known methods (excluding variants and partial methods like mgls) so ha ^^

WOW! that's one load of typing!!! but btw, what method do u use and what's your personal best time for your 3x3? oh, sry i did'nt tell u guys, i'm not a beginner, i started cubing since last year and through lots & lots of practice my PB got down to 31 secs. Well, i asked this Qn to find a faster method. because after i saw dan harris complete a rubix cube, i thought that i could do it much faster than my time now.

I know Fridrich, Beginner's, Petrus, and ZZ.
I like ZZ the most as it is just as fast as Fridrich, but with less algorithms. I don't use Petrus at all anymore as I couldn't get COLL into my head. Beginner's I don't use because it is slow. So, I use Fridrich but am transitioning to ZZ.
PB's
ZZ= 30.xx
Fridrich=21.07
Petrus=46.xx
Beginner's=54.xx

i know of
1) beginner lbl method
2) different beginner method (layer, then oposite layer, then middle)
3) Keyhole metod
4) a method I figured out for myself
5) Petrus
6) Roux
7) Freidrich

I use Freidrich because the F2L is very quick AND very intuitive at the same time.

my PB is 24.xy

my best average is 29.xy

I also use a 3 look ll.
