Merging multi-posts

Since we can only have 40 posts per page at most (although most people have their settings at 10 posts per page), it's nicer to see more content on each page.
I thought about this too. I purposely merged some of my posts and deleted some in "Methods for Forming Parity Algorithms for Big Cubes" in puzzle theory because of this. However, I always wondered how easy would it be to program a routine which runs every time the content in a thread is changed/added/deleted so that the routine can calculate the amount of lines of text are in that page. If so, then you probably guess where I'm going with this...

Posting for the sake of increasing post count used to a problem before, back when the off-topic subforum counted posts. Allowing multiple posts could also encourage pointless posting. (By "pointless", I mean content-wise, not because of the extra y-axis space.)
I private messaged Brest about the member introductions sub forum, and he said that it is also considered off topic. If so, why do threads in the membership introduction forum show up on the main page? Also, I don't know if posts in the membership introductions sub forum are counted, but if they are, they shouldn't be because content wise, they are no better, in my opinion, than off topic discussion. Some people do post quality posts there, but some also post quality posts in the off topic forum as well...

Something like merging posts is too contextual to have a strict rule set. If a user double posts, and there is no clear reason why such as bumping with new content, then merge them. If the user gives a rational reason why their post shouldn't be/have been merged, then allow it.

If issues like this could be solved well with an automated system, there wouldn't be mods.
