megaminx problem?

okay,

so i haven't gotten a megaminx yet but i am first trying to understand a little bit about it but i need some help.

i understand:

the star(like a cross in 3x3)
the first F2L
the second F2L

i don't understand:

the "V"thing which is like the third step(after getting the star and f2l on megaminx)
last layer(i will learn it later once i actually get it)


so i want to know how you get the "V" thing

p.s if you don't know what i mean by the "V"thing then looke at 4:04-4:35 in this youtube vid tutorial by Lancetheblueknight

you don't even have a megaminx yet and you're already confused? Wait until you get it. It really can be done exactly like F2L on the 3x3 (or like the first layer of the megaminx). In the video, he first puts in the blue-orange edge piece, imagine that is an edge piece of the blue star, then he puts in the blue-orange-purple pair into what is now the same as the bottom layer you did the star on. I can be just like F2L if you imagine constantly changing the D layer.

i meant that i was confused about uderstanding that part. I want to learn some of it a bit early so i can easily do most of the megaminx then worry about the rest later.

... because you don't have a megamix. When you get one you'll see that it doesn't need to be done any different from the previous part that you do understand.

I don't have a megaminx (yet), but I've solved that one a dozen times or so. It's slow (because you have to use the mouse), but it works. You can try doing the "V" step like Lance did, or try to do it as if it was F2L, as Ellis mentioned. Imagining the proper "down face" while doing F2L at that stage is a key point.

Basically, for each top centre excluding the last layer centre, you take the lowermost corner piece (that is adjacent to the F2L you already did) and fit it with the two edge pieces next to it. Once you did this you can do another "F2L".

So after reading this I thought I'd try my first megaminx without looking up any guides or anything, and heres what I got.
