So for last layer megaminx I'm doing the following:

I solve corners then edges

BUT there is a twist (actually a lot of twists because of lack of algs)

I solve corners with jperm, yperm or tperm (sometimes I do 2 back to back yperms because I can't recognize if that weirdo 3 cycle is cw or ccw)

for edges I just spam uperm with setup if needed because I just now simple ua and ub

I know that people tend to learn for 4LLL all edges and then all corner cycles

but can you guys recommend good algs for me to solve all corner cases before edges then some simple and fast edge cases?

without having to learn a dozen zillion algs?

(those corner algs seem horrible to recognize)

Im not very fast at megaminx, but I think it’s faster to just solve edges first for PLL. Recognition is easier, and its possible to just spam t perms and j perms (that’s what I do) and try to do auf so that 2 edges are solved (all but for 1 case where it’s not possible). Then corners is easy. Just do commutators where you take out then insert the corners correctly. It’s very easy, requires less algs and fixes the problem you had with recognition.

without having to learn a dozen zillion algs?

Number of algs I use for mega PLL: 5

I've experimented with both orders of doing PLL and honestly I think they're both annoying to use which is why I use my own method instead.

For CP-EP order, I'd recommend learning these:
CP:
Headlights everywhere: skip!
Two pairs of headlights: R2 U2' R2' U' R2 U2' R2'
Two pairs of anti-headlights: T perm
Anti-headlights everywhere: L R U2 L' U R' L U' R U2 L' U2 R' or R' U' R U2' R' U2' R U R U R' U R U2' R'

EP:
You already know the U perms, so add the funny U perms and, later, when you feel like it, the 4-edge EPLLs.

Note that the algs for Z1 and Z2 are almost identical!

Recognition is easier
?????? no?????

The corner case is naturally going to be easier to recognise than the edge case, because corner pieces have more colours to form patterns out of. AUF-less CP recognition is easy in comparison to AUF-less EP recognition. CP recog is literally just checking for headlights and anti-headlights. In exchange for improving CP recog, EP recog is worsened.

(But also, you can still do commutators for EP. They're just substantially longer (instead of R' D* R, do L' R F* L R'), and spamming U perms is probably faster.)

There's an exact 1-to-1 correspondence between the algs used for EP-CP order and CP-EP order, so the number of algs you'd need to learn is exactly the same with both methods. Neither method has an advantage on the alg count front.
