Hi,
I want to sign up to the German Open 2009, and I don't know, whether I will join at Megaminx event... I ordered one at cube4you and it will come in 2-3 EDIT: weeks...
Do you think, that I can learn, how to solve it (fast enough to compete, in 5 minutes) till 25th of April?

Greets,
Conny.

ummm, i would say its about the same as a 3x3 but a little more odd to handle. as far as learning about how to solve its pretty easy. there is just 1 new alg to learn

I got around 2-3 weeks before a competition and got sub 3:30 avg. So it's not hard if you can solve a 3x3.

What do you mean by "this allgerithm"?

I'm able to solve everything but the last layer, and since you know how to solve a 3x3 you probably won't have a problem until you reach the LL.
I haven't learned the LL yet, so some simple algs would be usefull for me too.

U don't have to learn how to solve a megaminx, you can just do it if you are able to solve a 3x3. You can use the OLLs to orient the LL and PLLs to permutete ist. Just try a T and a J perm on a MM and you will see what I mean.

I'm using a Guimond-like corners first method on the cube. How am I supposed to solve the corners of my megaminx with that ? :p
And anyway, 3-cycles is not the way you usually solve edges with any CF method on the cube.
