Did he ever switch to the YS3M?

I go to a majority of his comps. He used the YS3M at Marshall Cubing Spring and the first round of Circle City Turbocharged. For R2 and finals he used the TV3, and i have only seen him use the max tornado since. (his cube is insane btw)

What surprises me the most is the double X cross. The X cross is easy to spot, but the fact that Max was able to spot a way to insert a corner and an edge while preserving the first X Cross just amazes me. The fact that he was able to find that in 15 seconds with everybody watching him and the amount of nerve he would've experienced makes him just as good as Yiheng and Tymon. When it comes to who is winning WC 2023, you definitely cannot count him out.

I would call that a pseudo xxCross as someone who do pseudo slotting a lot, but for this scram I just won’t be confident enough to do double pseudo xCross at comp, and I guess I may even end up with doing yellow xCross without even knowing how different the LL cases are

I actually think that the FMC world record (the longest standing current record) will last longer than this, maybe even longer than the 0.49 2x2 WR single.

The one thing that I just love about this solve is the pure simplicity of the solution. There aren't any crazy things, it's just a simple double X cross into F2L and a PLL skip.

I tried the scramble and actually found a triple xcross (probably overinspected though):

Still only got 7.25 because of a very slow and locky y perm

Funny thing about the scramble: In my solve I missed the XX-Cross and free pair. I had only a simple X-Cross and a different OLL but still ended with a PLL skip.

I tried to reproduce it but I don't find the same solution again.
