Here is a video about Maru 3x3x3 CX3 cube

[youtubehd]fAAE4KBGCEI[/youtubehd]

Cube is 1mm bigger than standard 57mm cube. Stickers are really nice (very good quality) and cube looks great. Cube is very fast and can corner cut about 50 degrees. One of the best 3x3 cube.

  • I purchased from lightake.com
  • I get this cube from lightake about 10 days ago
  • In my opinion this is a really good cube. It is very fast and i don't like sound of this cube

I only like it because of it's stability. Probably most overhyped cube this year. I asked a certain WR holder for his thoughts (about my CX3 and his) and he agreed, it's mediocre.

Just because a certain WR holder has an opinion on a cube doesn't make that opinion more valuable imo. The reason being that everyone has a different taste, WR holder or not, and in terms of performance, the CX3 is at least up to par with any other flagship, if you can call them that. I for one do not like the ShuangRen that much, and it has been praised by a lot of people. I wouldn't say it's bad though, I'm just not a big fan of it. The CX3 in my opinion is a fantastic cube due to it's feel, but like any other cube, it's not perfect.

Would everyone agree that the cube feels a bit on the"cheap" side when you get it? I just received mine from UPS today, I bought it from speedsolving puzzle shop fulfilled by Amazon. First of all, the tensions were almost non existant out of the box. It seemed as if they literally put the pieces in and just kind of...pushed the screws in to place it was that loose. I took it apart, it had some kind of bad lube on it.I took the center pieces off and found that about half of the screws were wobbly. A bad core maybe. Is this normal with Maru cubes? Or have I possibly gotten a defective one? I'm going to post this and see if I get any responses while I try to fix this cube. I'll be back when I put it back together and lube it.

Edit: Been about half an hour and I've lubed it, tensioned it several times with solves in between, sanded the corners down. It seems to be alright now, still feels very "cheap" for lack of a better word. I'm not sure how to explain it other than it feels like if i solve it too fast or turn to sharply it will just break apart in my hands.

Yes, I'd like to bump this thread. I have now done over 100 solves on this cube and I actually am starting to really like the crunchy feel. I had to do a lot of work on it to make it a proper speed cube, but now it's pretty damn good. The only thing I've found while solving is that it gets caught on turns. Like, a half lock up that slows my solve down. Can anyone confirm this or give me a solution to this problem? If I could get rid of these "snags"/lockups I think it would be the perfect cube.

^ RubiksJake12,
Try making sure you've put it together tightly. Like, have the pieces clicked together? Becuase often cubes come not fully assembled.

I completely disassembled it and put it back together, I checked all the pieces in that process and they're all fine. Thank you for the suggestion though.

at first I have to say I was very dissapointed with this cube. The main reason being how unstable it feels. This cube just wants to move around and has a hard time retaining its shape. However after using it and other cubes I have to say this cube is definitely worth a buy. It probly has the best feeling corner cutting m slice and sexy move abilities out of any cube out there but at a price of the stability. This cube will pop on you and corner twist occasionally more than other cubes. I do like the plastic and feel of this cube. It has a click clacky crunchy feel that is satisfying. While this may not be a main it is still fun to solve and is in my top 3.

I got some 13s and 14s with my stock tensions. I have since done 350+ Solves with this cube, 4 days after receiving it. No lube. The only concern I have is the loudness and some of the pieces are splitting on the outside, which means I have to sand it down a little bit.

Where: The Cubicle
When: December 2013
Thoughts: I agree with everyone else; this puzzle, in my opinion, was quite overhyped. As soon as I got it and took it out of the box, it fell apart in my hands. After fixing the tensions and lubricating it, it was pretty good, but no better than my current main (Fangshi v1). The cube has a very unique bumpy feeling and turns quite fast, but the corner cutting is okay. I have only gotten a few pops, but I noticed that my algs don't flow as smoothly as they do on my Fangshi. Overall, it's a good cube, but it didn't live up to the hype.

I got a maru CX3 cube last year. The sticker quality is pretty bad. My stickers are peeling off (but remember I have been using this for a year now). I did not lube it because i don't have a good lubricant. I did tension it though. It's hard to get the right tension. The turning is pretty well. I don't know why, but corner cutting is worse than i thought. It can only cut 20 degrees. It can cause lockups and ruin the solve. However, I'm not really concerned. I really like the crispy turning sound so i used it as my main. Overall, I definitely recommend this cube.
