What would be considered world class for mbld? Top 1% is 23 points, top 5% is 15 points. 2.2% of people (37/1695) have records of 20 or more points, that seems like a nice round number. Will 35 points ever be considered not to be world class? 40 points?

I hope we see it someday! But everyone has a little work to do to get there yet. I think several people are not that far from being able to do 50/50 60:00 on a good, lucky day, but 60/60 60:00 is still looking pretty far off.
Shivam recently sub-houred a 37/54, 31 memo. Very impressive imo, even though the accuracy needs a lot of work

IMHO, world class is usually the top ~10 contenders or maybe top ~20 if the field is close. For MBLD today, maybe 25+ points.

If you have a high likely hood to win or podium at a large competition (US nationals, a continental championship, worlds etc) then you are world class

Any idea why that is? Talent? Hard work? Luck? I find the last one rather improbable, unless you consider natural talent lucky.
My view is that it's simply not a very popular event. The few people who are dedicated and have time to practice will be able to get up to 20 or so. Talent will get you further.

Maskow secretly practicing and being at 60 is a serious possibility.
Also will Shivam and mark do 45 or 47 now? Like how they did 42/44/46/48 before?
Mark did 46 and Shivam did 54 for the WC last week. I'm guessing Mark is going to step it up fairly gradually, Shivam will likely stick around 54 until his accuracy improves.

It makes sense for them to shoot for a number of cubes equal to WR points +3 or +5 so that they don't tie on points and they leave a margin for 1 or 2 errors. So yes, 45 or 47.
