I have these CubeFreak cards(sort of lke baseball trading cards but with cuber personalities on them) that tell you the stats of the best cubers. I looked at Macky?s card and it says his method is ?Fridrich(modified)?. I was wondering what was modified in his method? Is it just his F2L because he uses some tricks in his c/e pairing including empty slotting. Or is his LL modified? I can see where it is though. Any know?

Ahh, found it:

Extended cross and other block approaches to F2L when possible.
F2L cross on bottom or left. Frequent use of empty slots and miscellaneous tricks.
Multiple algorithms for corner-edge pairs to minimize pause and regripping.
Avoiding 4 wrong LL edges when fixing the fourth slot (but only when it flows nicely from the rest of the F2L)
The nicer patterns from COLL when all LL edges are correctly oriented
PLL recognition by blocks of continuous colors

I don't understand the last part though. I like extended cross but I was always told that it was inefficient.

Thanks ExoCorsair.

By the way I found this on Macky's site as well:

I'm averaging 1 minute right now and I want to learn Fridrich to get faster. Any tips?

At 1 min average, there is absolutely no need to start on OLL. Takahito Domon easily averages under 20 sec without OLL and without F2L. The key is to look ahead during F2L. Try to go as slowly as possible but reduce delay time between algorithms during the first two layers.

WITHOUT F2L AND OLL? Does that mean 19 sec average or does that mean below 19? And that's amazing. I always pray that I end up with a T OLL or H OLL that way I can do a 2 look instead of 3-look. But that guy just does 3-look and no F2L system just regular? Wow.

dChan, work on Fridrich or some other efficient method like Roux/Petrus/Heise. You will get sub-20 with practice.
Yeah, I'm learning Fridrich F2L right now. I think I know like 10 patterns or more. Do I have to count mirrors as well? I understand that CFOP F2L counts everything I believe. So I would only need to learn the original patterns then I would be able to just mirror the others.

The F2L is basically intuition. When I started, I was had a "42 F2L alg sheet" and whenever I had a case, I would look at the "alg", and watch what the pieces were doing, and eventually it became intuition and was able to do it from all angels, etc. I'd recommend just looking at a cube, solve the cross, and just look for pairs and find the best and easiest ways to solve and insert. Practice makes perfect.
