I dont get something...
If I get a scramble that to get a cross I just need to do an R that isn't considered lucky?
Is a solve lucky only if there is a whole step skip?
This just doesn't make any sense to me.

i believe jessica fridrich mentioned what she considers lucky on her website
like 2 move cross and f2l pairs arleady made and oll skips and pll skips
EDIT:By skipping a stage, I mean: placing the four edges using less than 3 moves, too much luck for the four blocks (in the second layer), skipping the orientation of 8 cubicles from the last layer, skipping the permutation part in the last layer
thats from her website

I agree with Kirjava. Lucky is already defined in dictionary. I don't see why it should be limited to skip in speedcubing. If during a solve I get only cases I am the best at, then it is a luck. Sometime during a bld solve images fit incredibly well together and memo is exeptionnally fast, that's a luck too. Lucky is not a speedcubing word.

We should use "fullstep" more often.

I absolutely agree.
By the above definitions, every single one of my sub-10 solves so far have been lucky, because I still average 15 and for me to a get sub-10, there has to be something relatively easy. However, a fair number of them are fullstep (i.e. my sig - where I have "NL single," it's fullstep, but still pretty much lucky).

So, yes, more usage of the word "fullstep," please. The only issue then, though, is that people would ask if it was a one-move cross, does it still count as fullstep?

Well for you to say something is easy just because there are easy F2L cases isn't fair! What if you practiced the hard cases more than the easy ones so you were better at the harder ones!
Instead of lucky and non lucky it should just be fullstep!!

My Sub 15 PB is lucky though xD Easy X Cross and PLL skip!

Please. Shutup.

If something felt unusually easy, it was lucky.

My comp pb is 15.41, it was fullstep, but if I remember correctly it had a 5 move cross, 1 pair built, and i got FRUR'U'F' and U perm LL, no AUF. It is considered "non lucky" - but it was as lucky as non lucky could get.

I don't personally think lucky has a place in a speedcubers vocabulary, other than "If I'm lucky, I'll pull tonight"

A luck does NOT mean a skip, but a skip DOES mean a luck.

You mean it doesn't have a place as a technical word?
We definitely get lucky sometime.

You can have "lucky" solves that are move moves than fullstep solves.

You can just give the solution and people can judge how 'easy' it is themselves. Luck only really applies to single times, anyway.

I think every time you archive a time better than your overall average, it is lucky, since you average should be your expected time.
But you get something better than expected, thus it's lucky.
And if you get a time worse than you're average, it is "bad luck"

You now could say "My average is about 15 and i got a solve with LL skip, but I really failed at F2L and got a 20. that was not bad luck that was failed"
If you fail, your average (considered as expected time) isn't 15 on that solve, it is way above 20.

imo

Except by this definition, roughly half the time you'll be getting a "lucky" solve and roughly half the time an "unlucky" solve.

WRONG
A solve is lucky if you finished a stage of the cube (or part of the stage) without working for it...Not if the time of the solve is higher\lower than your average...
Solving the cube has no connection to the time you solve it

So if I find 2 connected f2l pairs(random locations) during inspection its lucky?
