Lofty and Dene's new technique, move count = wow

yea I did mean OLL and Okay so really no point in learning it.
Meh, there are some.

OLL is good because it's widely developed.
CLS is
1) an alternative.
2) 2-gen.

I went for 1 (don't become a Fridrich clone!), and got 2. :p

Really, movecount/speed/recognition, etc. just about cancel out.
OLL is not bad. If you want to do something different or like the option of "2-gen OLL," then use CLS. It's about that simple. ;)

(Really, that amount of algs is not that bad.)

Last Slot + OLL (corners) is really a slow technique because you have to build the Last c/e block to insert, then insert it. It seems as though,

Cross + 3 c/e pairs then ELS, CLS, PLL would win 9/10 and that 1/10 would be when you get an R'FRF' insert pre-built c/e pair block, or a 2-gen (R/U) insertion with all edges oriented. After that a sune orientation.

Lucas,

you would be the right person to ask :

do you know how many cases are there to place corner of last slot
while permuting last layer edges (not worrying about LL corners at all) ?
at the moment I'm doing this in 2 steps.

this is under the assumption that I already have edge of last slot
placed and all LL edges orientated.

There are 7 OLL cases I learnt to orient LL corners (while preserving
LL edges) and 4 PLL cases to permute corners (when all LL edges are
already solved)

I'm asking this because I don't want to learn 100+ CLS cases.

cheers
Pete

Well,
Corner in slot: 2+3(+3m)
Corner on top: 12+12(+12m)

So, 29+mirrors/44 cases

But seriously, it doesn't feel like 104 cases. All except for 8 cases have mirrors (5 of those are OCLL). If you can mirror, it should not feel like 100 cases at all, because it isn't.

Also, a LOT of them are something like R R' R R' R R'. where each is U, U', or U2.
They might be harder to keep apart if you learn a lot at once, but all you really have to do is remember the U turns...
To mirror, you just change the directions...

Also, as I've noted before, more cases means you're getting more done per alg, which is actually good. ;)
If you can hold enough algs for OLL in your head, you can surely hold CLS in your head. :)

Well... Its not an entirely new technique and you don't have it entirely right and me and Dene aren't doing it exactly the same...
I am doing as Petrus through 4a then put an edge in then CLS + PLL
Dene was going 2x2x3 to F2L minus one slot to full MGLS to PLL.
Move count= ~22 for F2L-minus a corner 9.5 for CLS and 12 for PLL so in actuality maybe just a few moves higher then you predicted.
How many moves to orient edges?

Well,
Corner in slot: 2+3(+3m)
Corner on top: 12+12(+12m)
So, 29+mirrors/44 cases

thanks for that. that's still more than what i was hoping for :(

I can mirror (I mean my brain can) but my left hand is useless - feels like dead
in comparison to my right hand. I could turn the cube around y-axis in order not to use my left hand for those 2-gen algs but then I wouldn't interpret it
as mirror - it would become a new algorithm to me.

cheers
