[Official] Live Coverage of the Indiana 2014 3x3 Finals

Well done. Hopefully this will motivate more people to do this type of stuff at more competitions around the world, and in more languages. Very cool.

Methuselah96: well done. Impressive and makes the experience much more enjoyable.

I really like the graphics update! Wish we had the time to be able to do this -- we had to turn this video around in one night before everyone left.

My only qualm was that the bars on the far right were rather busy. The yellow/orange bars could be done away with, as mean +/- stdev really has no concrete interpretation without an understanding of each solver's distribution. We could also do without one of blue/green - I like green since it does the prediction in the context of how the average is actually calculated. These are just minor qualms though -- I really liked the production overall!

I was going to say the same thing :)
Much too hard to pick up everything at once. White, red, green is good.
Awesome job by everyone though

this is awesome, do this for every competition

I'll do it for anybody who gives me a video.

This is a must for worlds. Live. With pro effects. Get on it.

I have been looking into actually doing it live and I believe I can do it. And of course I will work on the actual graphics/effects. Unfortunately, I'm not going to Worlds. I'll probably try it out live at an unofficial competition I'm organizing later in the year. Maybe after that I'll make a tutorial of how to do it at your own competition.

Yeah, that's pretty quick to edit it. I could probably do it in a few hours if I already have the graphics prepared. I have no problem with getting rid of some of the bars. Then i can put the lower bound number on the left, the middle number would be the average, and the number on the right could be the upper bound. It continually bugged me that you could never actually see the number values for those.

With some effects thrown in to make it even more like ESPN.

Just something I threw together, so there are a few errors here and there. Also, the actual effects (including images) could be better, but I didn't have a whole lot of time to waste on this. The goal was to just show the potential of this type of video.

Color key for the bar on the far right:
Blue: mean
Yellow: mean - standard deviation
Orange: mean + standard deviation
Green (number displayed on bar): estimated average (assumes rest of solves are the same as mean)
White: lower bound (fastest possible average)
Red: upper bound (slowest possible average)

Very cool. What program did you use to make/add the graphics?
