That's what I meant by my post.
Personally, I waste more time trying to find the pieces than actually executing the moves.

I built a cube especially for F2L practice with an unstickered LL. This would've been a good tool but I had to dismantle it to build a cube for friends.
You don't get realistic times then because the recognition is way easier because there are less colors on the cube( no yellow/green piece etc...)
That's a rather inefficient way of practicing F2L, though. You aren't focusing specifically on improving F2L by solving the cube again and again. You may be improving a little by just solving the cube, but you will improve even more if you practice F2L by itself.Solve the cube with F2L over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...and over, and eventually, you'll master it. That's how I mastered it![]()
7. Memorize the 41 case algorithms and be able to execute them from all angles (How did I forget to add this?)
8. If you're aiming to be color neutral, practice solving the cross and the F2L for all sides. If you're aiming to be opposite color neutral, practice solving the cross and F2L for two opposite colors (like white and yellow).
9. Use a cube with an unstickered LL specifically for F2L practice.
Anything else I missed?
Context: I think Raff meant to say that Edam isn't wasting any more moves than he has to, to adhere to the notion that any f2l case can be solved in 8 moves or less.
Why do you have to waste moves?
thats exactly what I did! No metronome thing, no practicing slow-turning solves, no taking off LL stickers, just solving the cube over and over and over and over and over again.Solve the cube with F2L over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...and over, and eventually, you'll master it. i dont know if its a good idea to use a cube with LL stickers taken off... You have to learn how to disregard the things that have yellow on them. of course, im just guessing, but it makes sense to me more that way
How about alternating between slow practice focusing on look ahead and fast practice executing as fast as possible? I have done this for music practice before. 3x slow, 1x fast... repeat... I think the idea is that eventually you'll be able to look ahead some or almost predict where the next pair will be when you do it fast. The "slow" practice would eventually get faster too. Slow speed should be without any pauses at all. Even a little slower than that to see other things to track might be helpful. Fast should be as fast as you can execute.
