limits of the LBL method?

I have been using the LBL method for 7 months (cross, corners, middle edges, top cross, align cross, place corners, flip corners.) and whenever I think I have reached the limits, I get better.

Right now I consistently average 40-50 seconds. If I skip a step, I usually get sub-40. My record is 27.60. I think I am doing 3-5 MPS.

Do you think I have reached the limits of this method?

Also, If I knew fridrich as well as LBL and I was moving at the same rate, how fast do you think i would be?

You can view the video on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLki-254ZKA
Erik does an average of 12 solves and there's a rough description of the beginner method(7 steps). Hope this is useful to you :) And to your first question, I reached sub-30 with LBL before converting to F2L, and unless you want to convert to F2L now, I believe sub-40 or even sub-30 would not be too difficult. Of course, it will take lots of practice.

I think Ryanrex uses Dan Brown's Method.
You can reach sub 50 with that, it's great.
You should try learning Fridrich now.
Erik's LL at that video is different as Ryanrex's right?

When I averaged 26 seconds with Fridrich I had been sub-35 with Dan Brown's method.

Yeah, I will slowly practice with fridrich, but school gets in the way.

You can bring one of your cube anywhere you go, even to school :P
Taking it out and practice even for a few minutes do help.

Yeah, I kind of do that, But not the school part anymore. If I put it on the table for 1/2 a second, I will have to run after it. (I'm SERIOUS)

I don't think you should immiedatly start learning fridrich. I think it's better if you try out different method and choose the one you like/suits you best. You should consider also atleast roux and petrus.

I actually do know petrus and roux. I just don't know all the algorithms.

dan browns method is not great. it is very innefficient. there are much much better beginner methods out there.

you should not start learning fridrich now. learn 4-look last layer. the actual one, not the one youre using now. it will probably shave 10 seconds of in less that an week.

Erik's LL is very different. Erik's is the one that ryan should learn.

You mean Last Layer Algorithms correct? I know there is no F2L petrus algs that are necessary to learn not sure about roux. The good thing is that there are only 28 algorithms you NEED to know to do last layer petrus and you can learn 14 just to solve if you don't want to memorize it at once.

I also learnt using Dan Brown's video and only 2 days into it, I realised that fast cubers got the whole top face yellow, then solved the cube (OLL then PLL). I wanted to learn this too, so started off by finding a better beginner's tutorial (I used AvGalen and badmephisto) and realised it is quicker. Then I learnt 2-look PLL, then 2-look OLL to make 4LLL. (I'm now learning the rest of the PLLs to make a 3LLL)

Also if you want to learn fridrich f2l, then do it.

Most advanced cubers = those who knows F2L and a full 2LLL, can take a simple LBL down to 35 second averages with just the few rounds of practice that is needed to learn the method (algs for the cases is not a problem, the ones needed for most 2LLL's are more than enough for basicly any 4LLL).

Using keyhole and 4LLL (mostly 2-3LLL but I did not know all cases) I did sub 30 second averages in the 80's and can still do sub 30 times after a little practice.

I think anyone that know full F2L, OLL and PLL can get way faster than 35 seconds with LBL. I don't know full F2L, only know about 10 OLL and half of the PLL's and I can do a sub 30 average with LBL + 4LLL easily. With keyhole I can easily get a sub 25 average and I am getting really close to a sub 20 average.

I know around 15 oll cases and all pll cases...f2l possible to do all 41 cases, just 2 cases extra by 3 turns compared to the algorithm f2l.. but I think I need at least 1 minute+ to finish with lbl + my previous beginner's last layer(not 4 LLL, never learned it before.. this is the link to my previous method>> http://www.chessandpoker.com/rubiks-cube-solution.html :p I took quite some time to change to forming cross...this method is form corners first only edges)..

my LBL+4Look times are about 32s. you can get ridiculously good and fast lookahead with it. with 3(or 2) look im about 27 (im not very comfortable with 2look PLL, hence the 5 sec difference), and with F2L take about 8 or 9s off that.
i would definitely say that LBL is simply a stepping stone. its definitely not something that i would recommend staying with.
to the OP,
if you had 3-5 moves per second all the way through a solve, you'd probably get 10-15s averages. if you just mean f2l, you'd probably get about 8/9s for that stage. you can see the difference clearly. the problem with learning fridrich f2l is that it requires lots of practice to get as fast as LBL in terms of turning speed, if you want that kind of speed constantly. Most people turn quickly but stop LOADS. if you switch, i'd advise just practising f2l without stops (once you are familiar with the possible cases - go intuitive). with slow turning i avg just sub-30.
