Left Cross?

I personally don't get why you would do that. If you practise on the bottom, and U,R and L moves are the easiest then why throw some Ds in?

For F2L, its all about regrips... well, certainly it was when I looked into it for ZZ. By switching to having the line (or cross) on the left-hand side, all algs are U, R and D (and possibly B and F if you're a Fridrich user). L moves are never used, which means your left hand (gripping the cube) never has to let go.

The main reason I chose not to do it was it ruins lookahead (the most important aspect for me), but possibly at Tomasz's level finger speed becomes more important than lookahead..

You don't have to use any D turns as many people here are saying. You can make movements like l' or l to avoid these situations. (it is far easier than lerning or practicing how to insert pairs from different views, or making d or d' turns.) I think left F2L is far easier. It is more intuitive, and more fluent. There are a lot of R U triggers. If you want to learn any special F2L case that you could't find by yourself, you can even learn the case you are interested in from any webpage that teaches cross on bottom; and eventually practice it until you master it sideways.

I've been doing cross on left pretty much because I just learned how to do cases intuitively and practiced with them on L. If you can do the cases intuitively, you really shouldn't need any help, it's literally the same thing.
