Knock-Off vs Real Puzzles: A Suggestion

I used the wrong wording.

Not 'as their own' and not such a large number, it was an exaggeration.

If someone could patent the design for the first car, and keep it forever so that only they could build and sell them. Then it turns out that everyone needs a car in order to have a smooth simple life (such as getting to work), then that original seller could change as much as they wanted, and force people to pay more since they are the only person they could get it from.
You need to find a new source of analogies because the one you're using seems to be broken :)

Like I said before, if you want to start to form some constructive discussion document about a speedsolving.com knock-off policy (or, as it now seems, you want to teach your own theories of how you believe market economies work) then take it to the wiki.

I am not exactly sure what you find 'face palm worthy' about what I said, other then the fact I exaggerated a little.
:fp

There. You made me do it! Now I only have one left and I was saving that to use in a board meeting this afternoon. :D

Dude, you need to make plausible arguments and tell us why you think we are wrong instead of randomly throwing facepalm emoticons around and expecting people to agree with you.

I have to totally disagree. It is fine to buy knock offs. First reason is not everybody has money to buy exspensive cubes. Thats where knock offs come in. Second you do it more than you think I bet. Next time you go by food how many times have you bought the cheaper knock offs of bbq chips or oreos. I dont think it is a so called slap in the face. If people make other 6x6 or 7x7 it might drive mr.v to make a 9x9. Also this is america its all part of the buisness world.

I get the feeling you're not picking up on any of the humour. OK, let me start by declining your kind request for me to join in your excellent patents debate -- perhaps some other time :) I'm rather bored with the type of "plausible arguments" that are being bandied around in this thread.

Be well assured that my deployment of facepalms is NOT, I repeat NOT random: each one is accurately honed and deliciously placed.

With respect to expecting people to agree with me... I'm a bit too jaded for such expectations (I guess being a parent caused that :D ).

Why do we have these patent debates every few days? Whatever issues you have will not be resolved in this thread.

Monkeydude,
Your basic understanding of the purpose of patent might be going in the right direction, but your explanation is fail enough to deserve a few facepalms.

MonkeyDude...
Your analogy of a patent is way off, it sucks.
If the company raised the prices to 100,000 plus.
Nobody would buy them. That's the part your missing.
They would be forced to lower the prices to stay in buisness.
Should they go out of buisness the patent would be removed.
Simple as that. Here's a :fp for the road.

This is going nowhere.

Here's the long and the short of it: Until Verdes' patent expires discussion of counterfeits and where to buy them will not be tolerated on this forum. This also extends to any other product that is protected by a valid and current patent.
