The most difficult part of joining a new social network is creating a good username…

I entered my first competition earlier this year. I wasn’t too sure what to expect, I had to ask a lot of questions, made a lot of silly mistakes. Most of all, my brother and I had to share cubes!

Anyway, a month or so later we’ve bought a batch of new cubes (only missing megaminx), I realise the importance of lubrication and proper tensioning, and I managed to learn most of OLL.

No idea when my next competition will be, but this forum was recommended to me to keep me motivated.
Right now my goal is simply to get under the hard and average cuts for the next competition.

:)

Welcome to the forums :D Also, by looking at your WCA profile, you're pretty good at 3x3 one-handed compared to all the other ones.

I suffer from that problem too... the US Nationals 2015 comp is coming up, and I don't think I'll make the cutoffs for 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, (I'm not doing 7x7. It takes way too long for me) Square-1 and it's 50/50 on Clock. But again, welcome to the forums!

Lol, so true...

So how long have you been cubing? I'm guessing you use CFOP as your method since you use/are learning OLL. What sort of times do you go?(sorry I can't check- I'm on a phone)

Anyway, welcome to the forums! I hope you find it a useful tool and a good community to be part of! :-)

P.S does your brother have an account (and who's faster? ;-P)

Thanks Shadow! :)

I’m faster than my brother. Then again, I’m almost twice his age :p For a similar reason he’s too young atm to have an account on here.

Trying to figure out how long I’ve been cubing is difficult: I solved my first cube when I was 14, I got it under 3mins with beginner’s method then left it for a few years.
I got interested again last summer, but my real improvement happened over the last few months when I got my time under 1 min consistently :)

I’m kinda using CFOP. I couldn’t be bothered though to learn all OLL so I used the Vandenbergh-Harris method on the last Corner-edge pair, then only learnt the 7 OLL cases with 4 edges.
I’m learning OLL now because my VH algorithms were non-optimal (mostly intuitive).
