Should this go in the hardware section? if so, mods please move it. My cousin has a cube, that he has never managed to solve. after i got into cubing, i ditched my dollar store cube and borrowed his, so i guess its been broken in for about a week. so after i returned it, i got my cube. he asked why my cube turned so smoothly and i said i cleaned out cube dust. now he asked me to clean his cube, but theres not much to clean. i then tried turning the centre caps on the core and it makes a really springy sound. can anyone help?

Spray silicone on the base of the springs to reduce the noise, or put new washers.

This makes the spring turn instead of digging into the plastic and causing the noise.

but its sooooo stiff its unbearable 0.o my storebought was never like this even right after buying

Storeboughts are incredibly inconsistent in quality, and really unreliable. It really isn't worth your time to try and improve it, because even after you lube the centers, it may very well still turn like garbage. remember, tension plays a huge role as well, and you can't adjust that on a storebought.

Storeboughts are really inconsistant. I have a storebought that is my 3x3 speedcube. It is my favorite cube i have used. But people in my school will ask if I can get their cube like mine. I simply reply, "no" cause if a storebought is bought bad then it is very very hard to get it good.

hmn, yeah. i guess case closed, then, but i shawl post my results

First cube, Very bad core.
Popped 3 edges, worked in 'bout 2 minutes, then dissembled, and let dry overnight.

Second cube, Bad core, but not as bad.
Popped 2 edges worked in 2-3 minutes, after a while it was still not very smooth, so i disassembled, and gave it one full sweep of lube, let it dry for bout 2 hours. put it back together, not as good as first one?

i used 3 in 1 professional silicone lubricant, from canadian tire (WOOT Canada =D)

edit
returned to my cousins and told them to disassemble the bad one and let dry overnight, hope it works
